we are still testing this idea and have made no official announcements on if we are using it in future leagues or fun races The safety car will only come into effect if it has been announced for the event. The idea of the safety car is to give drivers a pre-formation lap and then the official formation lap to get the feel of the car with a full tank of fuel and to warm the tyres up this should hopefully cut the number of incidents on the start line and first corner. PRE-Formation lap
1: Drivers will qualify as normal with the safety car starting at the back of the grid. 2: once the lights go green there will be no racing. You will make your way around the track at a steady speed. 3: You will be greeted at the start/finish line by a safety car there should be no stopping and the leader should keep the pace behind the SC. Formation lap with rolling start1: Drivers are required to keep up with the car in front but leave enough space for tyre warming. 2: Before the final corner of the track drivers will need to stay side by side or at least in a staggered formation. 3: The safety car will pull into the pits and will say GREEN GREEN GREEN 4: The leader can pull away once the safety car has pitted but cannot cross the finish line until the GREEN GREEN GREEN 5: There will be no overtaking until the SC has announced GREEN GREEN GREEN. download the safety car livery www.megafileupload.com/91nO/MERC_A45_LIVERY_PLAYER.dds

Why stop on grid again after pre-formation lap Ricky? Leader should control pace through last 1-2 corners so that field slowly meets SC?
Everyone should be in TS if this is going to work for tomorrows race

No need for two laps stay on grog let the safety car passed when follow it for that lap no need to lap to the back of the safty car then one more lap just let it pass in the first play before you pull away he can jump start anyway as he not doing the race

It could cause some accidents

i know this adds to the realism of the game, but in PCars the tyers are warm for the race, doing a lap or so more is going to disastorous espically on a tight track like alton park. the game also provodes a rolling start in the options..
your tyres will be cold at the end of the 2 laps because of the slow speed, i can just see a huge pile up in the first corner resulting from this
just my 2 cents

From last nights test it was successful but we had lower numbers, we want to try this with more drivers and the fun events are the best place for testing. personally im not a fan of the ingame rolling start because if your wheel is not centred when the car goes into your control you will steer all over the place. along with when you are given control mid turn. There would be no problem with the idea if some drivers could make first corner without crashing. We are trying our best to come up with ideas on improving the races making them more fun and clean and the only way we can do this is trying new things and using fun events to make sure it works.
if it is used it wont be my choice but one made by the hole community.

i can see where ur coming from ricky, but you may have to do it on wider tracks, alton park is i think , not wide enough to try this on.. something like silverstone or monza , i can see it working sometimes, all depends on the nuts behind the wheel

Well its done in real life at that track so it shouldn't be a problem as long as these nuts look where there going like you say. If it fails we will look into what went wrong and throw the idea out. It will just mean looking into other ways of keeping the racing clean and we have a few ideas floating around with the admins.
